John W. Boyd

John W. Boyd, 41, of C a r r o l l County, died at 11:30 a.m. Sat., Oct. 28, 2006, from injuries sustained in a vehicle collision at the intersection of SRs 29 and 218 in Carroll County.

Born Jan. 25, 1965, in Frankfort, he was the son of Dennis and Laura Louise Butler Boyd. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1983. On Oct. 7, 2000, at Faith Lutheran Church near Deer Creek he married Patricia Trogen Eastman, who survives.

A veteran of the U.S. Coast guard, he served aboard the USCG Mackinaw and the USCG Bramble.

For 16 years, John was an accident-free, over-the-road truck driver, most recently employed by Hart Trucking Company of Dansville, Mich. He had driven professionally over two million miles and was an owner-operator for the past seven years.

John was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he was beginning to train to be a lay worship assistant. He also assisted with church youth activities and was active in two small group Bible studies. He attended the Lafayette Great Banquet #44 and was contemplating a call to attend seminary.

John was a member of the Kokomo chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

He was also teaching himself to play the trumpet.

Surviving with his wife are his father and stepmother, Dennis and Joretta Boyd of Flora; his mother and stepfather, Laura Louise and Bernard Newhart of Frankfort; his paternal grandfather, B. Wayne Boyd of Pyrmont; maternal grandmother and her husband, Nina and Lloyd Miller of Flora; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis DeWayne and Mary Boyd of Norris City, Ill.; sister and brother-in-law, Denise Louise and David Edington of Carmel.

Others surviving are three stepsons and their wives, Karl M. and Linda K. Eastman of Tuscola, Mich., Matthew L. and Michelle Eastman of Birch Run, Mich., and Brent A. and Tina A. Eastman of Delphi; eight stepgrandchildren, Nichole Schluckbier, Steven Schluckbier, Kimberly Eastman, Presley Eastman, Nicole Eastman, Tiffany Eastman, Lacie Eastman, and Michael Eastman; stepbrother and wife, Ted and Leslie Fenstermacher of Lafayette; stepsister, Kathy Martin of Indianapolis; aunt and uncle, Mary and Jerry Hall of Frankfort; and several nieces, nephews, other aunts and uncles, and cousins.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, at Faith Lutheran Church. Pastor Tom McShannock and Pastor Sandy Hutchens will officiate. Burial will be at Rock Creek Cemetery, Carroll County.
