Frederick S. Medbourn

Frederick S. Medbourn, 88, formerly of Delphi, died at 1:15 a.m. Mon., Oct. 30, 3006, at Century Villa Healthcare in Greentown. He had resided in Delphi for 43 years before moving to Greentown in 2001.

Born Jan. 15, 1918, in Culver, he was the son of Wilford E. and Lula D. Warren Medbourn. He was married on April 17, 1939, in Booneville, Miss., to Virgie Inez Smith, who preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2003.

Mr. Medbourn was retired from the Delphi Community School Corporation where he had been employed as a custodian for 16 years. He farmed for most of his life and was a grain processor for Maggart Farms.

He served as deacon at Zion Apostolic Church in Frankfort for many years and also attended the First Assembly of God in Delphi.

He loved his family and worked hard to provide for them and often opened his home to help others.

He enjoyed doing automotive repair.

Surviving are one son, James Medbourn (wife: Alice) of Germany; two daughters, Carolyn Gibbs (husband: Dave) of Greentown and Dorothy Medbourn of Carmel; one sister, Violet Swartz of Villa Park, Ill.; grandchildren, Ralph Medbourn (wife: Jeanie) of Onawa, Iowa; Jamy Medbourn, Stewart Medbourn (wife: Becky) and Paula Sue Medbourn, all of South Sioux City, Neb., Jennifer Bennett (husband: Dan) of Fishers, Bryan Gibbs (wife: Carmen) of Noblesville, Rodney Eckart (wife: Tammy) and Monica Middleton (husband: Mike), and Angela Little (husband: Rob), all of Greentown, Matthew Eckart (wife: Nadine) of Lebanon, Lisa Frank (husband: Justin) of Rockville, and Amanda Sherman (husband: Mike) of Walton; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were a son, Eldon Medbourn; two daughters, Connie Eckart and Helen Sue Henry; two brothers and two sisters.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi, with his grandson, Pastor Matthew Eckart, officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens in Delphi. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
