October Correction made to to issue of Vital Signs Logansport Memorial Hospital printed an article in the November issue of Vital Signs that encouraged seniors to get their "Welcome to Medicare" physical exam within the first six months that they have Part B coverage. The article neglected to mention that the Medicare recipient must pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for the one-time preventive physical exam. Deductible and co-insurance also apply, unless the recipient has a secondary insurance to cover the co-insurance and deductible. In 2006, the Medicare recipient must pay an annual $124 deductible for Part B services and supplies before Medicare begins to pay its share. In 2007, the deductible amount will be $137. Memorial Hospital apologizes for any misunderstanding or inconvenience this article may have caused. For more information about Medicare services, call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). |
