50th anniversary open house
Mr. andMrs. James D. Griffith Sr. will be celebrating their 50th anniversary with an open house on Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Camden Fireman's Lounge in Camden. The event, hosted by their children, will be from 3 to 5 p.m.
Griffith and the former Pearl Irene Turner were married on Oct. 27, 1956. by Rev Hugh Vancel from Lafayette. He worked as a millwright and maintenance man to openWilson'sMeat Packing Plant in Logansport, and then retired with their closing in 1992. He then worked for IBP, opening their plant, and retired five years later in March of 1997. Mrs. Griffith worked for over 20 years at the Brethren Healthcare Center in Flora as a cook and kitchen worker until it closed.
After many years of moving, the couple settled in Camden in 1971. They have four daughters, Theresa Denton, who died in September 2004 (partner: Robert Hickman) of Monticello, Connie Cripe (husband: K. Dean) of Camden, Shirley Griffith (friend: Mindy Hadley) of Walton, and Tena Graf (husband: Brian) of Camden, and one son, James Griffith Jr. of Camden.
They also have ten grandchildren (two are deceased); four stepgrandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and four stepgreat grandchildren.
