Ruby Maxine Ward

Ruby Maxine Ward, 86, of Delphi, died at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi.

Born Jan. 29, 1920, in Clinton County, she was the daughter of David S. and Mary A. Merrill Rhine. She graduated from Rossville High School in 1939. Her marriage was on Feb. 16, 1941, in Rossville, to Paul R. Ward, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1989.

A homemaker, she moved to Delphi from Rossville in 1989.

Mrs. Ward was a member of the Delphi Wesleyan Church and a former member of the Rossville United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Delphi Senior Citizens, Rossville Order of the Eastern Star, and was active in Rainbow Girls.

She enjoyed sewing and doing crafts.

Surviving are one son, Robert P. "Bob" Ward (wife: Connie) of Warsaw; five sisters, Ruth Davis of Carmel, Virginia Morgan and Mary Lauderdale (husband: Otis), both of Delphi, Imogene Reed of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Betty Smith (husband: Ray) of Sheridan, Wyo.; three brothers, Roscoe Rhine (wife: Dorothy), John Rhine (wife: Ruth) and Don Rhine (wife: Helen), all of Delphi; a sister-in-law, Ruby Rhine of Delphi; and two grandchildren, Rebecca and Bobby Kellams.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Ann Kellams, and two brothers, Paul and Maurice Rhine.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi. Pastors Rick and Carol Schenck will officiate. Friends may call from 12 noon until time of the service. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens, Delphi.
