AnnaBelle Coffey
AnnaBelle V a u g h a n Coffey, 86, a resident of H e r i t a g e H e a l t h c a r e Center, West Lafayette, died there at 1:55 p . m . Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006. She had been a resident there since October 2005 and in ill health the past few months.
Born July 29, 1920, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Charles Davis and Belva Guthrie Vaughan. She was formerly married to the late William D. Coffey.
She was a 1939 graduate of Delphi High School and graduated from the former Home Hospital School of Nursing in 1944.
She was the occupational nurse for the U.S. Postal Service in Houston, Texas, for 11 years, retiring in 1993. She had also worked at several healthcare facilities in the Lafayette and Logansport areas. After retiring, she moved back to Lafayette to be closer to her children and family.
Mrs. Coffey was a former member of the Episcopal Church, Delphi, was a den mother for several years for the Cub and Boy Scouts, a former member of the OES Lodge and Modern Mrs. Homemakers Club, Delphi, and received the Founding Families of Carroll County Award. She enjoyed music, crafts, and gardening.
Surviving are four sons, Donald Coffey of Houston, Bradford Coffey of Lafayette, Robert Coffey (wife: Cyndie) of West Lafayette, and James Coffey of Houston; her twin sisters, Nina Irene Stewart and Ina Mabel Moore, both of Delphi; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at Abbott Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Stewart officiating. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
