Edgar Martin Stephens

Edgar Martin Stephens, 67, of Delphi, passed away at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Hestand, Ky., to Bedford Del and Laura Louise Cook Stephens. On Dec. 6, 1958, he married Barbara Ann Cropper in Salina, Tenn. She preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2002.

Mr. Stephens was a member of the Cottage Street Church of Christ in Delphi.

He is survived by three sons, Mark Stephens of Delphi, Tommy Stephens (wife: Pam) of Deer Creek, and Jimmy Stephens (wife: Tammy) of Cutler; two daughters, Sherry Stephens Johnson of Monticello and Pamela Stephens Beaver (husband: Stan) of Atilla, Ala.; five brothers, Thomas Stephens of Washington, James Stephens of Greenwood, Glen Stephens of Gamaliel, Ky., Paul Stephens of Bringhurst, and Raymond Stephens of Flora; four sisters, Vonda Gentry of Mt. Herman, Ky., Claudine Hide and Irene Ferguson, both of Indianapolis, and Oma Kite of Flora; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Strode's Chapel in Thompkinsville, Ky. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Gamaliel Cemetery.
