John A. Hayden
John A. Hayden, 63, of Delphi, died at 5:40 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at his residence. He had been in ill health the past two weeks.
Born March 23, 1943, in Peru, he was the son of Lewis and Bessie Newburn Hayden. His marriage was to Betty J. "Betsy" Spitznagle on May 11, 1964, in Delphi, and she survives.
He attended the former Pittsburg Elementary School.
Mr. Hayden worked 29 years for Loy Roofing, Delphi, retiring in 1994 for health reasons.
He enjoyed auto mechanics and fishing.
Also surviving are one daughter, Kim Lawson (husband: Bill), and one son, John Hayden Jr., both of Delphi; two brothers, Lewis "Butch" Hayden Jr. and Tom Hayden, both of Monticello; two sisters, Dixie Witt (husband: Fred) of Newark, N.Y., and Pearl Puhfal of Monticello; six grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren, and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi, with Pastor Greg Britt officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg.
