Love Lights a Tree to benefit cancer survivors, victims

Plans are underway for the annual Love Lights A Tree, sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

The tree has previously been on the Carroll County Courthouse lawn with traditional red and white Christmas balls placed in memory or honor of cancer victims and survivors.

This year, the tree will be placed in the courthouse rotunda and instead of Christmas balls, it will be decorated with colored ribbons. Each color will depict specific type of cancer.

Anyone who would like to have a loved one remembered in this way may make a contribution to the American Cancer Society and a ribbon will be ready to place on the tree Dec. 2, the day of the Delphi Christmas Parade. Those who would like to have a ribbon placed on the tree, but do not wish to contribute, may do so.

Information should include the name of the survivor or victim, the name of the person or persons giving the memorial and also the type of cancer involved. Send the requested information, along with contribution, to: Pat Duff, 4756 SR 18 West, Delphi, IN 46923, or to Karen Guckien, 4479 E. CR 900 N., Delphi, IN 46923. Checks should be made payable to the American Cancer Society.

Those who have participated in the past will receive a letter with all the necessary information.

Last year $900 was raised from the tree fundraiser to support the fight against cancer and to help victims.

Associate Chapter of Tri Kappa is making and donating the ribbons.
