Spooky Halloween events planned around the county Trick-or-treating around the county will be on Halloween, Oct. 31. Hours for Burlington, Camden, and Delphi will be 6-8 p.m., and hours for Flora will be 6-9 p.m. Each community is also planning events, and two haunted buildings will be open. Burlington Kiwanis Club is hosting a Harvest Party for the community on Saturday evening. Chili and hot dogs will be served, starting at 5 p.m. Costume judging will start at 6, and games will follow. Flora Lions Club will have its annual Halloween Fest on Monday in the 4-H Building at the Flora Community Park. A chili supper will begin at 5 p.m., followed by costume judging at 7 p.m. All age categories are eligible to win a prize. There will be free popcorn and cider. The Lions also offer a prize to the person who brings in the most used eye glasses. Camden Lions Club is sponsoring a Halloween party Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Building. There will be costume judging with prizes; popcorn and drinks. The annual Halloween party at Canal Park, Delphi, will be on Tuesday night from 5 to 6 p.m. A bonfire will greet the arriving kids, and the shelter building will be the center of activities. There will be costume judging, a parade around the park, prizes in the Pumpkin Patch, and treats. The event is made possible with help from Psi Iota Xi sorority and the Delphi Chamber of Commerce. After the children leave at 6, any adults and volunteers who want to, may sit around the bonfire and roast hot dogs and tell stories or listen to Riley poetry read by Mark Smith. The Haunted Adams Mill, 4640S 75E, Cutler, will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 to 10 p.m. It includes a hayride through the haunted trails. There is a cost for admission. Carroll Cougar Blues will have food for sale to benefit their activities. Hawkins Manor, on Armory Road, across from Delphi Community High School, will be open Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. Admission is free. |
