A recent graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law, she has passed the Indiana Bar Exam. She will be sworn in on Oct. 20 and receive her license to practice law as of that date. Harmon said her goal is to be open by the first week of November in the Flora Prof e s s iona l Building at 103 S. Howard St. Her practice will specialize in civil law - "anything that is not criminal." She is especially interested in family law and that includes divorces, custody issues, support and guardianships. Her thesis her senior year was on elder law, an area that she wants to pursue. Elder law includes helping people choose the right nursing home, preparing long-term for health care needs, and Social Security issues. "I love working with the law and helping people," said Harmon. Last year while a student at Valparaiso University, she worked in the Civil Law Clinic and gained courtroom experience. Harmon said she will be working by herself to start her practice, but plans to eventually hire a paralegal and/or secretary. Harmon can be reached at 574- 967-4333.

BISHOP of Flora attended the annual meeting of the Indiana State Bar Association on Oct. 5 at the Indianapolis Marriott downtown. Bishop was presented a "Golden" careerist award for conspicuous service to the legal profession in achieving a golden career of 50 years as an attorney at law. Thirty-nine other Indiana attorneys also received the award. SHARON DILDINE is now a certified business coach with Action International.
