Gary A. Penn

Gary A. Penn, 64, of 1794 E 650 N, Camden, died at 2:55 a.m. on Oct. 3, 2006, at Miller's Merry M a n o r , Logansport.

He had be a resident there for the past 10 days, and in failing health the last few years.

Born July 24, 1942, in Carroll County, he was the son of Lewis and Irene Cree Penn. His marriage was to Jane E. Downham on June 22, 1968, in Logansport, and she survives.

He was a 1960 graduate of Camden High School and served in the Army Indiana National Guard for six years.

He farmed all his life in Jackson Township, Carroll County, near Camden, and did custom semi grain hauling for area farmers, Camden Elevator, and County Line Egg Co.

Mr. Penn was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Camden, where he was active on the church council; Camden American Legion Post 413; Camden Community Club; and Antique Tractor Club, The Oliver Gang. He enjoyed working on and showing his antique tractors, fishing in Wisconsin, and wintering in their home in Florida.

Also surviving are five sisters, Roselyn A. Penn of Flora, Janice A. Collins of Camden, Mary Lou Fincher (husband: Jerry) of Logansport, Marilyn Guckien (husband: John) of Camden, and Phyllis Myers of Logansport; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Larry.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Dale Larson officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Paint Creek Cemetery, Camden, with Camden American Legion military rites. Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
