VFD Boot Drive helps local MDA patients

Firefighters from the Delphi Tri-Township Volunteer Fire Department have completed another Boot Drive for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a national voluntary health agency dedicated to conquering more than 40 neuromuscular diseases that affect a million Americans of all ages.

The 52-year partnership raised $23.5 million this year nationwide, while the Delphi department provided $4,439.14 for local patients. Although firefighters have been a national partner of MDAfor five decades, the money raised in local districts stays in local districts.

The funds raised by Delphi Tri- Township VFD will provide the following for patients in this local district:

v $2,000 for a purchase of a wheelchair or leg braces

v $25 for a flu shot

v $65 for 1 minute of research provided at Ball State University

v 1 support group session totaling $100

v Clinic visits to local hospitals v Sending any eligible child to MDA camp.
