Cougars defeat Oracles 'under the lights'

Carroll and Delphi soccer teams played their first ever game under the lights at Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School on Thursday night in their version of the Bacon Bowl. A large crowd was on hand for the event.

The Cougars, playing their second full season at the varsity level, plummeted the Oracles 8-0.

The Oracles will be moving up to a varsity program next year as they are young and continuing to build.

The game was filled with excitement as Carroll started the scoring quickly with a goal at 35.37 in the first half with Arthur Santos driving on a break away. Santos got three more goals in the game with assists from Kara Overholser and Antonio Delgado.

Brice Giddens kicked a long distance goal in for the Cougars at 21:10 in the first half. Delgado added 3 goals and 1 assist. Michael Myer set up Delgado for a goal on one of his break away goals.

Everyone got into the game on both sides. Delphi had several saves (18) in the game.

Carroll deflected 3 goals. DJ Erskin broke away for a goal attempt in the second half but the shot was blocked.

Carroll plays Western at home, tonight, Wednesday, at 5 p.m. Carroll also drives to Western Boone for the The Cougars play in the Varsity Sectional at Logansport and play the host team at 7 p.m. Oct. 5.
