Cougars win soccer tourney

Carroll brought home the championship trophy from the Caston Soccer Tourney on Saturday. The Cougars won the tournament for the second year in a row.
The final game was a hardfought battle between the Cougars and their hosts. Neither team scored in the first half, but Carroll came out in the second half with a goal by Antonio Delgado just three minutes into the game. With just 26 seconds left on the clock, Brice Giddens scored on a long shot for the win. Adam Tussinger had 7 saves.
Carroll junior Justin Moffitt was named MVP for his strong defensive play and leadership on the field.
Carroll landed in the championship game after defeating Southwood 4-3 in the second morning game. The first game was won by Caston over Rossville.
Delgado scored first, 10 minutes into the game, on a beautiful pass by Arthur Santos. Santos then scored, assisted by Cody Abdon. Delgado put another one in the goal with one minute to go with the help of Santos for a 3-0 half-time lead. Southwood came back in the second half to score 3 goals; however, the Carroll's Santos was able to put one more in on an assist by Abdon.
Tussinger had 12 saves.
Southwood defeated Rossville in the consolation game.
In another game last week, Lafayette Faith Baptist defeated Carroll 3-2. At the half, Delgado
scored on an assist from Michael Myer for a 2-1 score. Delgado scored again in the second half on an assist by Matt Morehouse. Tussinger had 13 saves. The Cougars will be on the field
again Thursday night against Delphi. Game time is 7:30 at the CHS football field. Carroll County Youth Soccer League teams will be playing at half-time. Pork burgers will be for sale.
