Burlington's Fall Festival promises a weekend of family fun. The event will get underway Friday afternoon at 4 and continue through the weekend, concluding Sunday afternoon at 4:30 with the wrap-up auction.
This year's festival will feature entertainment, an antique tractor pull, bingo, kiddie and pony rides, contests, a pioneer village, food, and much more.
Pre-festival events include the crowning of a festival queen tonight, Wednesday, at 7 p.m. in the community building. The prince and princess pageant will be held Thursday evening at 6:30 in the community building.
The queen, prince and princess will all participate in festival activities and the parade set for Saturday afternoon at 1:15. Registration will begin at 12 noon at the Brethren Church. The parade will start from the downtown area and proceed to the park.
Sunday's events will include a community worship service at the park beginning at 10 a.m. The Scoop will serve a chicken and noodle dinner afterwards from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Community Building.
Registration for Sunday's car show will start at 10 a.m. with judging at 1 p.m. Awards will be
presented at 4.
The barn and TV drawing will
be at 4 p.m. Sunday. Mathews Brothers (Steve and Scott) donated the barn this year and also built a shelter house on the south side of the basketball courts. They donated the materials and labor for both projects.
Last Saturday, a concrete floor for the shelter was poured. The Town of Burlington provided funds for the concrete and Mathews Brothers paid for the labor.
Barn proceeds benefit the maintenance fund for the community and Lilly buildings at the park. This year's proceeds will be used for a new roof for the community building.
A schedule of events is found on pages 6&7A of this week's Comet.
