Carroll varsity soccer

Carroll soccer team competed in the Danville Tourney on Saturday.

In game one, the Cougars played Martinsville. Adam Tussinger scored on a penalty kick in the second half of the game making the game final 9-1, Martinsville. Tussinger had 8 saves and CJ Grace had 6 saves.

In game two, Carroll played Danville while Martinsville played Mooresville for the championship. Score at the half was 4-1, with Carroll's lone goal by Antonio Delgado, assisted by Grace. Tussinger had 11 saves for the half. In the final half Tussinger had saves while Arthur Santos scored, assisted by Chase Meade. Delgado was able to kick in a score assisted by Santos for a final score of 7-3 Danville.

Earlier in the week, the Cougars played Rossville at home, winning 12-0. The team came out strong from the beginning with Antonio Delgado scoring 2. Others scoring in the first half of play were Kara Overholser, Meade, Arthur Santos, Michael Myer, and Cody Abdon.

Tussinger had 3 saves at the goal.

In the last 40 minutes of the game, Delgado scored twice more followed by Matt Morehouse, Justin Moffitt, and Sam Parker. Grace had one save as goalie.

Those credited with assists were Delgado, Kiel Lester, Brice Giddens, Santos and Myer with 2.

Carroll plays at Caston at 5:30 Thursday.

Delphi JV football

Delphi's Junior Varsity football team played the Indians of Twin Lakes Saturday. In the second quarter Justin Snider caught a 23-yard pass from AJ Beckett to put the Oracles up 6-0. The kick attempt failed on a bad snap.

The Indians came back and scored late in the quarter. They went for two and scored for an 8-6 half-time lead.

The Oracles put together a drive and fell short twice. The Indians scored two more times to lead 22-6. The Oracles were led defensively by Miguel Montero and Brandon Delaney.

The Oracles are still winless in three attempts. They will play Monday at home against Clinton Prairie.

DCMS girls' volleyball

The 7th grade Oracle girls' volleyball teams each evened up their records with wins over Battleground. The A-team was victorious in two games by scores of 21-6 and 21-17.

Leading the way in serving were Caitlin Schock with 13 good serves and 3 aces and Stacia Erwin with 11 good serves and 4 aces.

The B-team fought back after a first game loss to win in three by scores of 14-21, 21-18, and 15-11. Leading the way for the B-team was Brittany Spitznagle with 13 good serves and 6 aces.
