Proposed purpose deemed an atrocity Carroll County Economic Development Director Daryl Smith (whom I believe is paid by your tax dollars) has suggested to county commissioners that they sell county land (your land) to Indiana Packers. This sale would encompass the land on the north and west sides of Carroll Manor. This would affect the elderly residents of Carroll Manor and their caretakers! These elderly people helped form this county and certainly deserve more respect and consideration than what this proposal, if enacted, would entail! Certainly our elderly should not be forced by county leaders to spend their brief remaining years with the noise, stench and disagreeable factors of Indiana Packers at their door and window sills and in their home, or in the case of staff, their workplace. If our elected officials choose to pursue this insensitive suggestion for the sake and greed of dollars, I challenge you to go to Carroll Manor and tell the residents and staff of what little importance they are to you! Furthermore, if you permit this transaction, I freely offer (without a tax-paid salary) this advice. Rather than subject residents and staff of Carroll Manor to the ramifications of confinement by Indiana Packers, throw the residents and staff out of this long-standing, worthwhile facility. This may well be kinder than what they will endure under Mr. Smith's proposal. It gets better for you. With the manor empty, convert the many rooms people called home into tourist and cultural shops, and surely the vision of Delphi becoming the Midwest touring mecca will follow in short order! I would emphatically suggest and personally implore all reasonable, caring and compassionate citizens of Carroll County to immediately call your officials and voice your opinion on this outrageous proposal to encompass Carroll Manor and its residents with this atrocity!
