Robert E. Larimore

Robert E. Larimore, 83, of Lafayette, died Aug. 30, 2006, at his d a u g h t e r ' s home in Bartlett, Tenn.

Born in Delphi on Oct. 11, 1922, he was the son of Charles and Irene Shockey Larimore. He was a 1941 graduate of Delphi High School.

He married Isabella Angelosanto on June 23, 1945.

Mr. Larimore retired after 33 years as a draftsman with Alcoa Aluminum's Lafayette Operations Extrusion Division.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Division. He served in Africa, Sicily and Italy, where he was wounded on Sept. 11, 1943, and awarded the Purple Heart.

Mr. Larimore was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Crime Watch and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was an avid outdoorsman and belonged to the Conservation Club in Lafayette and many other wildlife and conservation groups.

Surviving are a daughter, Deborah A. Schafer (husband: John E.) of Bartlett, Tenn.; two grandsons, Garrett Dunnewold of Memphis, Tenn. and Austin Schafer of Somerset, N.J.; and three sisters, Barbara Nelson and Edith Isaacs, both of Delphi and Joann VanNatta of Battle Ground.

He was preceded in death by his wife Isabella; six sisters, Beatrice Isaacs, Ruth Bayer, Evelyn Pritchard, Deloris Eberle, Betty Maxwell and infant Marybelle Larimore; and two brothers, Donald Larimore and Edgar Larimore.

Service will be held at Morning Heights Cemetery in Delphi on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Delphi American Legion and VFW. Pastor Jeff Martin will officiate.

After the service, family and friends are invited to a light lunch at the Stone Barn on Washington Street in Delphi.
