DCMS 7th & 8th football teams blank Carroll Before the Bacon Bowl varsity match-up, Delphi and Carroll also squared-off Thursday night as Delphi played host to Carroll for the 7th and 8th grade football season-openers for both teams. Delphi's 8th graders shut out the Cougars 30-0, while the Oracle 7th graders defeated Carroll 14-0. After a scoreless 1st quarter in the 8th grade game, Delphi's first score came on Austin Hawn's 14 yard TD pass to Jordan Wagner, capping a 9play, 74-yard drive with 4:00 remaining in the half. Dustin Salyer scampered into the end zone for the two-point conversion. Following a Bradley Roth interception, the Oracles went 52 yards on 5 plays with Salyer scoring on a 5-yard TD run with just 17.5 seconds left in the half. Salyer passed to Hawn for the twopoint conversion for a 16-0 lead at halftime. The young Oracles used great field position to score six more in the 3rd quarter as Hawn found Salyer in the end zone for a 20-yard scoring strike with 1:01 remaining for a 22-0 lead. The Oracles' final touchdown came with 3:38 left in the game as Derek Bradshaw ran 12 yards for the score, following a 5-play, 56-yard drive. |
