Over 100 attend Alumni Banquet

The Monroe Township Alumni Banquet was held Aug. 19 at Pat's Country Barn with 117 present. Eighty-five were alumni of Flora and Carroll schools.
Several guests were present including Gene Conard of Kokomo and John Wilson Sr. of Lock Haven, Pa. Wilson, who was Indiana's "Mr. Basketball" in 1946, was the banquet speaker.
Among other attendees were members and guests from California, Nevada, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, and Michigan.
The following were recognized and given gifts:
Oldest man present - Robert Clingenpeel of Florida, Flora Class of 1932.
Oldest woman - Elaine Roll Smith, Flora, Class of 1938.
Youngest - Sara Hoffman, Carroll Class of 1986.
Farthest distance - Mary Lee Loy Chambers and Robert Douglass, both from Sun City, Ariz., and both from the Class of 1946.
Classes honored were the 65year class (1941), and the 60year class (1946). Five members were present from the '41 class, and 11 members were present from the '46 class.
In conjunction with the Class of 1946, the 1946 Final Four Flora Badger basketball team also was recognized. Eight members of the team, plus two cheerleaders were present. Monroe Township Alumni
Association officers are: Sara Hoffman, president; Mike Hoffman, vice president; Sue Mann Ayres and Libby Carter Sparks, secretaries; and Patty Wagoner Wisler-Meade, treasurer.
Next year's Alumni Banquet
will be Aug. 18, 2007.
