The library will be closed on Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day. When the library reopens on Sept. 5, hours will change to the following fall/winter schedule: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon Drawing Studio will begin meeting on Sept. 26 through Nov. 21 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. This class is an opportunity for aspiring artists to experiment with various drawing tools and techniques.

This will be the third session of this class and many participants from earlier sessions have gone on to exhibit their works in local shows, had works accepted into juried shows and sold some of their works. Individuals from age 12 to adult may sign up. The class is free but participants must furnish supplies. To register and to pick up a supply list, stop by or call the library.

The September's iFilm series featuring "Familia," winner of the Toronto International Film Festival and official selection of Vancouver International Film Festival is will be shown Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. The film explores the question of how value systems are passed from mother to daughter and asks: Is it possible to avoid passing on to our children those traits that we dislike in our parents. There will be refreshments and discussion after the film.

Camden-Jackson Twp.

Phyllis Myers will present "Bringing Family History to Life" on Sept 12 at 7 p.m. Participants will learn how to research family history. Myers and her son Len Myers Jr. have co-authored a workbook "Annotated Genealogy."

The one-hour workshop is held in connection with the Carroll

County on the Same Page project. Phyllis Moore of the Carroll County Historical Society Museum will talk about the resources available at the museum to aid genealogy research. Everyone is invited.

Flora-Monroe Twp.

The library will be closed Saturday, Sept. 1, and Monday, Sept. 3 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Winter hours will begin on Sept. 4.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. If you live in Monroe Township there is no fee for a library card. Several unserved townships in our area have programs to help with the cost of their card including Democrat, Carrollton and Washington townships. For details of these programs contact your local township trustee or ask at the circulation desk.
