Upperclassmen mentor freshmen at DCHS

At Delphi Community High School's first annual freshman orientation program, upperclassmen began the year-long process of mentoring incoming freshmen.

Last spring, members of the junior and senior classes were offered the opportunity to participate in the high school's first mentor program. Many of the upperclassmen went to Camp Tecumseh's Leadership Center for a day-long leadership workshop.

During the freshman orientation program, several student mentors chose to plan and present workshops for the freshmen. They presented mini-workshops about study skills, test taking, intra/extracurricular activities and more.

The upperclassmen also gave skits about attitudes, perspectives, taking pride in the school and dealing with bullying and harassment.

The evening concluded with dessert while mentors and freshmen 116 in all had a chance to get better acquainted.
