Flora Library issues toy alert

The Flora Library gave bendable toy cows as prizes in the 2006 summer reading program.

Library director Melissa Bishop reports that tests of similar toys in Indiana and the United States, and distributed by numerous libraries this summer, show a harmful lead content in the decorative paint used on the toys. She said only dog and cat-shaped toys have been targeted by the Consumer Product

Safety Commission for a nationwide recall. However, the cow toys distributed by the Flora Library came from the same vendor as those being recalled.

The Flora Library encourages parents to take these toys away from their children and discard them. Parents may also return the toys to the library and receive a replacement prize.
