Charles M. Fausset

Charles M. " C h u c k " Fausset, 82, of B r o o k s t o n , died at 6 p.m. on Aug. 10, 2006, at St. E l i z a b e t h M e d i c a l Center in Lafayette. He had been a patient there since suffering a heart attack on Aug. 8.

Born Aug. 30, 1923, he was the son of Jesse L. and Nancy V. Thompson Fausset. In 1941 he graduated from Kirklin High School. He received his bachelor of science degree from Indiana University and his master's degree from the University of Iowa, in elementary education.

His marriage was to Bertha A. Blewett on Aug. 30, 1946, in Bloomington, and she died Nov. 27, 2002.

Mr. Fausset was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from December of 1942 until he was honorably discharged in March of 1946. He was stationed in Australia and New Guinea.

Mr. Fausset retired from Tippecanoe School Corporation in 1987. He taught sixth grade there and at Frontier School Corporation. He taught business classes at West Lafayette, Ligonier and in Oquawka, Ill.

He enjoyed woodworking, was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and was a big IU sports fan for basketball and football.

Mr. Fausset was a member of Indiana State Teachers Association, White County Retired Teachers Association, Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #164, the former Brookston Optimist Club and the Brookston American Legion.

Surviving are three sons, Richard Rogers (wife: Nancy) of Westminster, S.C., Rex Fausset (wife: LaDonna) of Delphi and Barry Fausset of Goodland; a brother, Jean Fausset of Lebanon; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Louis and Donald Fausset.

Services were Monday at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston.
