ISP at Lafayette releases July district statistics Indiana State Police at the Lafayette Post have released statistics for July. Troopers issued 971 traffic citations and wrote 910 traffic warnings. Troopers also arrested 27 drunk drivers and made 78 criminal arrests. Also, 215 truck citations were issued; 84 commercial motor vehicle inspections; 41 vehicle crashes investigated; 8 crash arrests; and 212 police services. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division, working from the Lafayette Post, worked 14 new cases and assisted the troopers in total criminal arrests. Motor carrier inspectors from the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, were busy inspecting buses for the 25 school districts and day-care providers in the eight counties that make up the Lafayette District. A total of 790 buses were inspected with 130 rejected (a rejection is they have 30 days to fix the minor problem but can still use the bus) and 34 were put out-of-service (out-of-service means the bus cannot be used until the problem is fixed). Every bus that carries children must be inspected once a year with spot inspections done during the school year.
