Master Naturalist classes begin Sept. 5 The Master Naturalist program first began as an effort of Purdue Cooperative Extension, the Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the Resource Conservation and Development committees. It goes a step beyond the wellknown Master Gardener program, providing classes on topics like insects, birds, mammals, forestry, wild flowers and stream ecology. Master Naturalist classes will meet each Tuesday from Sept. 5 through Oct. 24 at the Kirkendall Interpretive Center in Kokomo. A field day will be 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 28. Class members must attend seven of eight classes and fulfill 24 hours of approved community service within the coming year to be certified. To enroll, call Leah Harden at (765) 659-1223, extension 3, and for more information, visit www.indianamasternaturalist.org. |
