CHS girls golf is off and running

In their first competition as a team, Carroll Girls Golf Team placed second out of nine schools at the Caston Invitational held Aug. 2 at the Logansport Country Club. Carroll's 9-hole score was 195.

The winning team was Lewis Cass with a score of 188. For Carroll, the scores were: Megan Garrison, 40; Krystal Brazel, 41; Lydia Hedde, 53; Malena Zook, 61, Taylor Sproul, 71. Medalist was Jessica Layman from Cass with a score of 35, Megan Garrison was second and Brazel third.

On Thursday Carroll played in the McCutcheon Invitational at the Ravines Golf Course in Lafayette. Out of the 21 schools participating, Carroll placed a respectable 13th, with an 18-hole score of 402. The event was won by Brebuf with a 315, followed by Brownsburg with a 317. For Carroll individually, Garrison scored an 83; Brazel, 94; Zook, 112; Hedde, 113; and Sproul 121.

On Friday Carroll participated in the Benton Central Invitational played at the Oak Grove Country Club in Oxford.

Fifteen teams participated and Carroll placed 11th with an 18hole team score of 416. The event was won by Northwestern, with a team score of 341. Garrison again led Carroll with an 89; followed by Brazel's 100; Hedde's 110; Zook's 117; and Sproul's 127.

"For this being the first year

of our program, I am very happy with our start and the progress the girls are making," said Carroll coach Erin Garrison.
