Eugene Foster Eugene "Gene" Foster, 67, of Delphi, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006. He was born May 26, 1939, in Lafayette to Claude E. and Olivia J. (Warfield) Foster. He attended Delphi Schools. On May 1, 1960, in Frankfort, he married Mertha Zook, and she survives. Mr. Foster worked for L.M. Pletcher Hardware in Delphi for several years before working for Smith Construction Company in Bringhurst. After that, he worked for Clawson Chevrolet in Delphi as service manager for several years. In 1990, he retired from Delphi BodyWorks in Delphi after 26 years of employment. Mr Foster enjoyedwoodworking and in 1984 started selling at fairs and festivals throughout the Midwest. He entered the Army National Guard in February 1960. He was a rifleman and received many medals for marksmanship. He then joined theArmy and was sent to Ft. LeonardWood, Mo., and Ft. Dix, N.J. He later entered the Michigan Army National Guard Reserves and was honorably discharged. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Katrina Stout (husband: David) of Camden; one son,Mark E. Foster (wife: Bethany) of Delphi; four grandchildren, Troy Stout (wife: Nikki) of Bristol, Ryan Stout (fiancee: Amanda Haygood) of Lafayette, Daisha Foster (companion: Shawn Cunningham) of Monticello, and Keith Foster (companion: Kyla Curts); five great-grandchildren, Ally, Keegan and Bree Stout, Emilie and Drake Cunningham. Also surviving are cousins, Ray Rutherford and Dorothy Thomas of Tennessee, and his mother-inlaw, Evelyn Zook, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi. The Rev. Ed Selvidge will officiate and burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora with military graveside rites. Memorial contributions may be made to either Riley Hospital for Children or St. Jude Hospital. |
