Come and enjoy a cup of coffee and livemusic at theCoffeeBeat on Aug. 19 from 7 to 8 p.m. Harvesting Murphy, with Chris Parker and Joey Phillips, will be the featured musicians. The band has a heavy Delta Blues influence. The event is free and open to the public. Desserts will be available for a small fee.

Evening Book Club will meet Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. to discuss "The Mermaid Chair" by Sue Monk Kidd. The review begins at 7 p.m. on the third floor mezzanine. Multiple copies are available at the library.

The iFilm Series feature onAug. 24 will be the Iranian film "Daybreak."An official selection of the Tribecca Filmand Toronto Film Festivals, "Daybreak" is based on a compilation of true stories and was filmed inside Tehran's century-old prison. It depicts a prisoner waiting, passing time while caught between life and death, retribution and forgiveness. It will begin at 7 p.m. Refreshments are served and discussion follows the film.

A call for submissions: Whether a native resident or a transplant, we all experience a connection to Carroll County through the land and the landscape, events and celebrations. Waving fields of corn, country schoolhouses, the waters of Deer Creek or a summer softball game are just some of those images. Howwould you "capture" an image of Carroll County?

C a m d e n J a c k s o n Township, DPL, and Flora-Monroe Township Public Library extend an invitation to county residents to submit an entry of art or artifact that expresses your personal connection to Carroll County. These items will be part of an exhibit for the Carroll County on the Same Page finale on Oct. 8. Residents wishing to participate should call any of the three libraries for details.

Flora-Monroe Township

The Indiana State Fair is the sixth oldest in the nation and celebrates its 150th anniversary this summer. The original purpose of the fair was to allow Indiana's farmers to get together to share ideas, view the most modern farming techniques and display their products. Today, the fair does that and somuchmore.

The library has the official program of the Indiana State Fair. The guide includes information on prefair events, exhibits on display, agriculture and education opportunities, a detailed map of the fair grounds including parking options, and a listing of daily itineraries.

AFun Guide is also available that showcases the entertainment schedule. Included are the 150th Blue Ribbon Celebration "Must Sees" The DNR Fishin' Pond and Amphitheater, Butterfly Corner, the World's Largest Drive-Thru Breakfast and much more! The Indiana State Fair runsAug. 920.

The Saturday morning book discussion group meets Aug. 19 to review the novel "Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Tracy Chevalier. History and fiction come together in this novel about artistic vision and sensual awakening. Extra copies of the book are available for checkout. New members are always welcome.

Storytime kicks off with a back to school theme.We'll have stories all about the fun of learning with friends! Storytime is Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.
