OS activities at Canal Park

Although most Old Settlers activities are in downtown Delphi, the Old Settlers Rendezvous is taking place at Canal Park Wednesday through Sunday.

The group sets up primitive camping quarters and dresses as buckskinners, French traders, and Native Americans. Many are artisans, and have their wares for sale.

Visitors are welcome to visit the campsites and step back into history.

The Canal Interpretive Center, with interactive exhibits for all ages, will be open Thursday, Friday, and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Lathe artist John Meador of Rossville will have his latheturned bowls available at the Canal Center, and will man his display intermittently.

The 1844 federal style Reed Case house will be open to visitors on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. The house was brought to Canal Park from downtown Delphi in the 1980s. Nearly all of the rooms have been fully restored and illustrate the times when canal business in town was brisk.

Canal Park also offers "canal boat" rides at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

There is no admission charge for any of the events or activities in the park; however, donations are welcome.
