Camden The Town of Camden's 175th anniversary celebration committee met July 31 in the United Methodist Church with 25 attending. Pat Casserly went over the tentative agenda. Two different T-shirt designs will be on display at the Camden Lions Club Tractor Pull on Aug 18-19. The shirts can be ordered. A quilt, donated by Linda Penn, will be raffled. Tickets are on sale. The winner will be announced at the Dec. 12 town council meeting. The committee will meet again in October. The annual combined picnic meeting of the Women's Missionary Society and the Dorcas Missionary Society of the Baptist Church was held last Thursday evening in the church fellowship hall with 25 attending. The welcome was given by Melody Hodges. Jennifer Wallace gave the opening prayer and Eva Lou Shanks gave devotions. For the Love Gift, Nancy Dillon read "Mirror on God's Love." The educational was presented by Marla Vechey, director of the Solid Waste Management of Howard County. Hostesses were Jennifer Wallace, Jana Rouhier, Eva Lou Shanks, and Mary Whitfield. A meeting for the Camden Lions Club Tractor Pull was held Aug. 1 with 14 present. Dan and Pat Casserly reported on plans for the town's 175th anniversary celebration to be held July 21-22, 2007. The 56th annual Camden Tractor Pull will be heldAug. 1819 at the town park. Lions Club members are reminded to be ready to pitch in and help. Lee and Rowena Calloway, formerly of Camden, and their daughter, Phyllis Davis, visited friends in Camden on Sunday. |
