Rock Creek EH Club

Rock Creek Extension Homemakers Club met at Solomon's Grille with Hazel Mullin as hostess. Six members and one guest, Jesse Snoeberger, attended.

After lunch, members signed up for project lessons for the coming year, and the new program books were completed.

Marjorie Been, Grace Deel, and Pat Robbins worked at the food stand at the fair. Wiladean Snoeberger was at the Open Class exhibits.

Door prize was won by Pat Robbins.

Kathy Snoeberger will be in charge of the next meeting.

Odd Fellows

The Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #28 met at 8 p.m. Monday for their regular meeting. Fourteen members attended.

Tom Flora sprayed both cemeteries.

The trustees and membership voted to have the outside of the building completely restored.

A motion to raise dues from $25 to $30 per year was approved.

Habitat for Humanity

Carroll County Habitat for Humanity held their regular meeting Aug. 1 at Radnor Methodist Church. Devotions were led by Rev. Janet Hildreth.

A schedule for manning the Habitat booth during Old Settlers was decided on.

Construction progress on the Habitat house was discussed. A few more volunteers are needed each Saturday to keep things on schedule.

Hildreth attended the Burlington Kiwanis meeting to speak about Habitat.

Vice president Terry Callender is planning to attend a Habitat auction fundraiser for LaGrange County. He thought it might be something for the organization to consider doing.

The next meeting will be Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. at Burlington United Methodist Church.

C.C. Chamber

Carroll County Chamber of Commerce board met on July 27.

Chamber Director Keith Chandler reported there are 81 members, with another 10 to 15 in the process of becoming members. The board agreed to send a letter and information packet within the next two weeks to businesses that have not been contacted.

Chandler reported the Arnett Clinic meeting was positive and that if business and interest in the clinic continue to improve, there is a good chance it will remain open.

The board agreed to purchase a Polk Directory membership.

The committee has completed a job description and salary details for an administrative assistant.
