Callout underway for Burlington queen pageant

The Burlington Fall Festival Queen Pageant committee has issued a callout for girls ages 1518 to participate in the annual pageant.

To be eligible to participate, contestants must reside in Burlington or within a ten-mile radius of the town, have social or church affiliations in Burlington, or be employed in Burlington. Application deadline is Aug. 18.

Rehearsal/dance practice for contestants will be held sometime during the first two weeks of September. Interviews with the judges will be Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. with the pageant the following night, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m.

Contestants will be judged on interview skills, business attire, evening gown, impromptu question the night of the pageant, personality, and poise/confidence.

Contestants are asked to complete an application form in triplicate and provide a 5x7 or 8x10 photograph for the photogenic award that will be judged by the audience during the pageant. Contestants will also need black shorts and clean, white tennis shoes for casual wear, T-shirt will be provided; an evening/prom dress (long) for evening wear; and business suit/skirt for interview with matching shoes.

The sponsor fee is $25. Checks should be made out to the Burlington Community Club.
