County APC re-vamps zoning ordinance Area plan commission members reviewed a proposed document, first drafted in June, for approximately an hour and a half at last week's meeting as they decided what would be included in the final draft. Attorney Patrick Manahan offered suggestions for consideration for inclusion in the final product. Carroll County Commissioners will be asked to approve the interim zoning ordinance in two to three months. The draft will be finalized at the August meeting and then advertised before being sent to the commissioners for adoption. Other business A favorable recommendation for a special exception was given to Jerry Adcock in Burrows for a 14-foot by 17-foot compact home. The Carroll County Board of Zoning Appeals granted the special exception, subject to an approved septic system on the property. A favorable recommendation for rezoning from agricultural to general business was given to Philip Holsinger for a tract of land at 7614W 700S, Rossville. Holsinger plans to operate a small family-owned natural and organic food retail shop on the site. The recommendation will be sent to the commissioners for final approval. Property at 119 N. Market Street in Delphi received a favorable recommendation for rezoning from general business to urban residential and which will be sent to Delphi City Council for final approval. The building, behind Carroll County REMC, is the site of the former Lewis Mullin Law Office and is being sold as a single-family residence. A new pre-construction fee of $20 for confined feeding operation building permits was approved. APC approved the firm of Ground Rules of Indianapolis to develop the county comprehensive land use plan. The next meeting will be Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. |
