Burlington officials approve moving town office Burlington Town Council President Dick Davis brought up the possibility of moving the town office at the council's July meeting. If Brewster Insurance moves into the office space to be vacated by Sand Ridge Bank, he suggested the town office move into Brewster's current office space. Rent would be $550 per month on a five-year lease. The council agreed to move the town office if the insurance office space becomes available. Officials believe the move would benefit the town by doubling the office space and providing additional space and privacy for the police department. Street and Sewage Superintendent reported the Cutler Road lift station is now fully operational and the sewage plant gate is currently being worked on. Town Marshal Jill Hammond requested the council adopt new Police Department Standard Operating Procedures. Town Attorney Anne Briggs reviewed and verified the procedures before adoption. The new procedures will replace the Police Procedure Manual adopted in 2004. Park Board Milt Rodgers presented items to be considered for inclusion in the 2007 park budget. The items included trading in the John Deere tractor, replacing a portion of the ball diamond fence, sealing the parking lot, striping the parking lot, and adding a Frisbee golf course. Rodgers also requested that the zero turn mower be replaced this year. No action was taken. The council read and adopted resolution 2006-6 authorizing Keystone "KeyPayroll" Software usage. At a special meeting held last Thursday afternoon, the Council awarded the SR 22 sewer extension contract to Carman Excavating in the amount of $15,572.44. The purpose is to upgrade the line which will allow Steve's Garage to hook-up to the system. The next regular meeting will be Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. in the town hall. |
