John R. Murray
His marriage was to Evelyn Marley on Dec. 29, 1935, in Frankfort, and she survives. Mr. Murray was a poultry farmer in Flora for many years. He later became a real estate broker in Kokomo, where he owned and operated Murray Realty. In Galveston in 1973, he built Poor Johns Restaurant, which he ran with his wife. He was a member of the Grace Brethren Church in Flora for many years. He and his wife later attended Morning Star Church in Kokomo. Mr. Murray enjoyed buying and selling property and owned several rental properties in Kokomo over the years. He enjoyed woodworking and building grandfather clocks for his family. He liked to fish and enjoyed reading his Bible and studying Bible prophecy. Surviving with his wife is a son, Richard L. Murray (wife: Christine), Rochester; four grandchildren, Rebecca Paugh (husband: Greg), Danville, Mark Murray (wife: Jill), Walton, Miriam Weaver (husband: Chris) and Andrew Murray, all of Galveston; nine great-grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew Murray, Walton, Kristina, Kimberly and Katelyn Paugh, Danville, Tabitha and Cami Weaver, Galveston, and Austin and Clayton Murray, Martinsville; and several sistersin law and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Services were Monday at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home Galveston Chapel, with Rev. Greg Reed and Rev. Brent Kirby officiating. Burial was at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora. Memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice or Gideons International. |
