Burlington

Art classes will begin at the Burlington Community Library on March 22 and continue through April 19. 'Basics of Drawing' art class will be held every Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. in the library's spacious back room. The course fee is $30, plus materials. Pre-register by stopping in or by calling the library at 765-566-3166 or teacher Brenda Daly Reid at 574967-3575.

Coming in June and running through the summer the library will host a children's reading program called "Passport to Adventure." The program is free and there will be crafts and snacks for the children. A sign-up sheet will be posted in the library for the reading program or call the library to get on the list.

The library's collection is always growing as books are continually being donated. Due to the generosity of many people the library has a nice selection for such a small library. Stop in and see what has been added to the shelves. Because he library also has so many duplicates and an excess of soft back books the library will have a book sale on April 8. Funds from the book sale will go towards new materials and the summer reading program.

The library has a nice back room that can be rented for small parties and family gatherings. Call the library for more details; if no answer leave a message and the call will be returned.

As part of this annual event, the Flora library will be hosting the following programs and events:

An Evening with Christian Knoeller will be Thursday, April 6, at 7 p.m. Knoeller is an associate professor of English education at Purdue University. His poetry has appeared in many literary journals, including Cutbank, GW Review, Southern Poetry Review, Visions International, and West Branch, and he has been a finalist in the National Poetry Series.

His book Voicing Ourselves: Whose Words We Use When We Talk About Books was published by the State University of New York Press. His most recent work, Completing the Circle, Buttonwood Press, is winner of the Millennium Prize.
