The E911 system for Carroll has not been activated. County residents should not begin dialing 911. It is likely that calls to 911 will go to an operator out-ofstate. Eventually the call will be directed to Carroll County Sheriff's Department, but valuable time will be lost. Kay Trent, E911 director, urges the continued use of the seven digit phone numbers for fire, ambulance and police. Notification will be given when 911 becomes available.

Kirk's Popcorn of Bringhurst has recently been purchased by Kirk and Van Taylor of Rt. Flora, from Arnold and Berdena Teel of Rt. 1, Bringhurst.

Kirk's Popcorn has been a Carroll County business for over half a century since it was founded by Paul Kirkpatrick, Sr. Since 1976, when the Teels acquired the company, it has grown rapidly.

Kirk Taylor, layer production manager at Yeager & Sullivan, Inc. of Camden, will remain at his present position. Van Taylor is a self employed farmer who will assume the duties of general manager of the popcorn company.

Mayor Roy Clauser indicated this week that plans to formulate a zoning commission for Delphi would soon become a reality. He stated the project had been under study for some time and that he expected an ordinance would be adopted to create a commission at the next council meeting. At that time he would be ready to name the zoning commission members. The mayor and council were given added encouragement last week to proceed with the project when the Delphi Chamber of Commerce sent a letter of endorsement.

75 YEARS AGO In Delphi and Carroll County,

every effort is being made to provide all possible relief for those in need. All of the benevolent orders of the city, all of the churches, in fact all of the kindly disposed people are striving with all their might to make certain that none of our folks shall suffer for want of food, fuel and shelter.

The Lions Club is trying to arrange a benefit basketball game, the receipts to go to the unemployed, at a later date and being given much encouragement.

The County Poor Farm should be self-supporting here. Whether you believe it or not, the records in the Carroll County Auditor's office in Delphi shows it costs over $8,000 yearly to operate the county farm and that the farm makes less than $500 or a loss of about $7,500 a year to the county.

The county poor farm pays no taxes of course but it always has been a loosing investment and the records will show that it has been

such under the last two administrations, one Democrat and the other a Republican so there is no politics to it.

Miss Fern Hance, formerly of Camden, was married Saturday to Clarence E. Hoin at Muncie. Three weeks ago Hoin was playing a selection on a piano in a music store and Miss Hance attracted by the music stepped into the store. They were introduced and marriage was the result.

Monday morning County Surveyor D.E. Allbaugh, Jas. Obear and Charles Northcutt, of Delphi, went to Camden and took the initial step to incorporating the citythat of getting the boundary line. They completed their work Tuesday evening and now a correct plat of the town will be made. Later an election will be called and then the voters within the corporate limits will have the privilege of being for or against incorporation.
