Mary Jane VanOstran, 75, of 1821 N. Flatrock River Dr., #414, Rushville, died at 9:27 a.m. Oct. 13, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital of Central Indiana.

Born March 7, 1931, in Sleeth, she was the daughter of George and Daisy Ghere VanOstran.

She was a 1948 graduate of Delphi High School and attended Ozark Bible College in Joplin, Mo., for two years, and Cincinnati Bible College for one year.

Miss VanOstran retired in 1992 after working as a bookkeeper for the State of Oklahoma for 35 years.

She was a member of the Red Revelers of Rushville, Dorcas Circle at church, and the Rush County Choral.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, painting and quilting.

Surviving are two sisters, Margaret McDowell of Lafayette and Violet Hobbs (husband: Edward) of Wellesley, Mass.; two nephews, Kevin Hobbs and Danny McDowell; two nieces, Jenny McDowell and Valerie VanOstran Cline; four great-nephews; and three great-nieces.

A brother, Emert Verlin VanOstran preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, at Todd Funeral Home, 805 N. Main St., Rushville. The Rev. Jerry Holdman will officiate. Interment will be in the Rushville East Hill Cemetery.
