Scrabble Scrimmage to raise funds for literacy programs

2006-10-18 / Local News

Game and word lovers are preparing to shake their tile bags and rack their brains during the First SCRABBLE Scrimmage for Literacy. The event will be held Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. in the Delphi Community High School Commons.

The general public, families, businesses, churches, and organizations can participate by creating teams of up to four players to benefit adult literacy programs and the Carroll County Literacy Grant Fund. Family teams are $25 and other teams are $40. Teams must pre-register. All monies raised during the scrimmage will help Carroll County Advocates for Literacy, Inc. continue their efforts of wiping out illiteracy in Carroll County.

Carroll County Advocates for Literacy, Inc. provides free confidential literacy tutoring to any adult in Carroll County. This year the organization has also created a grant fund for organizations and schools to promote literacy projects in the county.
