Workshop to give solutions for adapting old barns
A Barn Again! Workshop will be held in the Miami County Community Building at the Miami County 4-H Fairgrounds just north of Peru on Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Across Indiana, barns of all ages and types have been successfully rehabilitated for modern farming and other productive uses. The Barn Again! in Indiana workshop will show participants how to do the same with their old barns.
Barn Again! in Indiana presents practical solutions for maintaining and adapting old barns for today's needs. The workshop covers the history and structural technology of barns as well as financial incentives for restoration. Most importantly, barn rehabilitation experts share their experiences and offer assistance with sources for know-how, labor, and materials. The program will conclude with a tour of several outstanding historic barns.
Building on the success of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Barn Again! program, the workshop is sponsored by Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service - Miami County and the Miami County Historical Society.
