DCHS to present The Matchmaker
Casting is complete and rehearsals for Delphi Community High School Drama Department's presentation of The Matchmaker are well underway. Seventeen students have been spending the last several weeks preparing for the comedy that will be presented Nov. 17, 18 and 19 at the DCHS Little Theatre.
Tickets will go on sale Oct. 30 and may be purchased from any cast or crew member or from stage directors Sara Daly- Brosman and Emily Stone.
The play, by Thornton Wilder, is the story of Dolly Levi (played by Arielle Brosman), a matchmaker who is employed by wealthy merchant Horace Vandergelder (Brenton Hathaway) to help find him a suitable wife. Subsequently, they become involved in a tangled string of hilarious complications involving two of Vandergelder's menial store clerks, a hat shop owner and her young assistant, Vandergelder's niece and her hopeful fiancé as well as cabmen, and even waiters. After everyone gets straightened out romantically, the merchant finds himself to be putty in the hands of the astute Dolly Levi. The Matchmaker is the play from which the popular musical and film Hello Dolly was inspired.
The cast also includes the following students: Andrew Martin, Brett Rogers, Jimmy Reed, Chris Mayfield, Natalie Garrison, Amber Smock, Jenna Buehler, Brittni Ballard, Jeff Crowder, Justin Foster, Brandon Miller, Leigh Replogle, Jenny Maxwell, Lisa Northrup, and Breenana Noonkester. Ann Mears is student director.
