Log cabin lessons Last Friday, Deb Siwinski's DCMS sixth grade keyboarding and communications class took the trolley to the Flora Community Park to visit the Log Cabin Rendezvous/history re-enactment camp. The activity was an enhancement to their History of Communication unit. The 40 students toured the cabin, had an egg toss contest, and sampled "skunk stew" and fresh apples. They also wrote letters about their experience, using primitive writing tools. The students spoke with the Rendezvous participants to find out what life was like during the early settlement era. They also discussed the difficulties of communication compared to today's lifestyle. The students will write reports of their experience as a keyboarding/communications lesson.
