Moore Moore Phyllis Moore, an Indiana state registered historian and the curator of Carroll C o u n t y H i s t o r i c a l S o c i e t y Museum, has been recognized for 20 years of volunteer service on behalf of Indiana County H i s t o r i a n Program, the Indiana Historical Society, and the Indiana Historical Bureau.

It was Moore, along with a group of Gamma Gamma Nus, who cleaned the museum in 1966, after it had been deserted for nearly 30 years. The museum was located on the third floor of the courthouse, and Moore said everything was covered with a layer of coal soot.

At that time, there were no organized genealogical records, but patrons visiting the museum asked Moore for help finding records of their ancestors. Over the years, Moore has managed to compile an entire library of genealogical records which are sought by researchers from all over the country.

Moore received a certificate in recognition of her years of volunteer efforts, at a banquet hosted by the Indiana Historical Society on Sept. 16.
