Soldiers & Sailors Monument, Delphi, 1906 10 YEARS AGO
The Four Play team took first place honors for the Carroll County Country Club's Tuesday Night Golf League. Members include: Sarah Van Sickle, Joyce Sanderson, Peg Clark, Barb Jones Connie Myer and Nola Dunbar. Second place went to Golf Bags and third to Swingers.
Tom and Allison Holden, owners of Holden Pharmacy in Delphi, are selling their business to Revco D.S. Inc., effective Sept. 25.
The Holdens purchased the Delphi pharmacy from Frank and Rosie Fitch in May 1989. They also have owned a pharmacy in Mulberry. They plan to continue operating the Mulberry store.

Roads were closed around the county due to washed out culverts and high waters from swollen streams and the rising Wildcat due to torrential rains over the weekend which continued into Monday. Erosion along C.R. 650 South between Prince William Road and 400 West closed the road to traffic following the downpour. A portion of County Road 350 West, between 600 and 650 South vanished into the stream below. Flooding washed out the road and the earth beneath it creating a gully next to the culvert.

Halls Foodliner advertised bread for $.33 for 2-20 oz. loafs and a dozen lemons for $.39. Sugar also cost $.95 for 10 pounds! Ice cream was $.89 a gallon and steer liver was $.29 a pound.
Whether you are a "Medic" fan of television or whether your read in Readers Digest this past issue, you'll be interested to know that a Delphi woman this past week submitted to one of the most advanced and most complicated heart surgeries now in use in America. The surgery took place at Cleveland Friday and Sunday and the woman was taken off the critical list. The hospital is one of only three in the world where such surgery is performed.
75 YEARS AGO
Carroll County Council cut off $42,560 from what the various officers of the county asked for in their requisitions and lowered the tax rate 3 cents less than last year. The new rate will be 30 cents.
The county agent salary was cut $200 and Carroll county will contribute $1,200 next year to the salary instead of $1,400.
The county poor farm asked for $10,000 and was allowed $9,000. The salaries of the managers were cut from $650 to $600 each.
The county attorney was cut from $500 to $300. The county health nurse was cut from $1,200 to $600.
100 YEARS AGO
Last Friday evening the Flora Lodge No. 605, F. & A.M. Entertained about 30 members from neighboring lodges. They had degree work which was well carried out and the Masons of Flora received great praise for excellency in degree work and their royal entertaining. Refreshments were served and the brethren from the neighboring lodges will long remember the courtesy extended by the Flora lodge.
