Fall programming will start with Family Story Time on Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. This is an opportunity for parents and their young children to come and hear a few stories, sing some quiet songs and wind down from a busy day.
Other children's programs will start on Sept. 7 with Baby LapSit at 9:30 a.m., Toddlers at 10 a.m., and Pre-school at 11:30 a.m. Parents or caregivers need to stay with their children during programs. The theme for story time is "cars."

Effective Sept. 5, new library hours began. They are: Monday and Friday, 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The library will be closed on Wednesdays.
Since 2002, the library has experienced steadily decreasing funding from state sources. Numerous reductions have been made prior to 2006, including operating hours and staff positions. During this time, trustees and staff have worked to keep the library
accessible to patrons. However, in order to operate within the means available as estimated by the Department of Local Government Finance, staff hours and business hours must again be reduced. While the Wednesday closing is regrettable, restoring the 10 a.m. opening time on Mondays and Fridays should be an added convenience.
When the doors are open, patrons will have the same quality service they have come to expect. The library board and staff appreciate the support of the community. They encourage residents to remind their state representatives how important libraries are to rural communities, and ask them to protect library funding at the state level. Contact information can be found on the editorial page of this newspaper.
September is Library Card Sign-up Month a time when the American Library Association, the Flora Library, and libraries across the country remind parents that a library card is the most important school supply of all.
Libraries play an important role in the education and development of children. Studies show that children who are read to in the home and who use the library perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source of lifetime learning.
The theme of the next storytime is "Grandparents Day." Bring Grandma, Grandpa or someone special. Storytime is Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.
