The Indiana Homeland Security Foundation has created a new scholarship for students interested in careers in public safety.

The Hoosier Safety Scholarship Program is aimed at residents who want to pursue a degree and who volunteer with a public safety organization.

Incoming and continuing students are eligible to apply for $2,000 (for full-time students) and $1,000 (part-time students).

Indiana Homeland Security Foundation recently approved $40,000 for the scholarship program. The revenue is generated largely through the sales of Hoosier Safety license plates.

More information about the scholarship and a link to the application are on the Indiana Department of Homeland Security Web site at http://www.in.gov/dhs and clicking on the Hoosier Safety license plate at the bottom of the home page.
