The library held its Award and Party Day for the close of its "From Land, From Sea, From Sky" summer reading program last Wednesday morning. The children had a great time making tie-dye T-shirts.

Each year the library awards a book to the child reading the most books in each grade. Winners were: Kindergarten - Chad Canen, 48 books. First grade - Amanda McCarty, 22. Second grade - Carson Rouhier, 23. Third grade - Autumn Freeman and Blake Peters, each 24. Fifth grade - Brett Abramczyk, 21. Children who read second highest also received a gift. All children then received a special certificate and gift. That evening, as part of the summer reading program, 22 children and 13 adults attended the Peru Circus. The children wore their tie-dye shirts. 30J Flora Library

Summer art classes offered by Grace Woodruff continue tomorrow (Thursday) for older students studying the great outdoors; drawing neighborhood houses in perspective, with a focus on American artists Edward Hopper and Grant Wood.

The final summer series will be Aug. 2 and 3. This last set of classes will look at flags in art by Jasper Johns, Monet and others, and then students will design and print their own flag. Artist Brenda Daly Reid will offer for the first time a Folk Art Class. Characteristic of Folk Art is the use of bold, bright color and simplified two-dimensional form, decorative and stylized. Folk Art Class will be on Monday evenings, Aug. 7 through Sept. 4 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Register for the class and pick up the course materials list at the circulation desk.

For more information on any of the art classes call the library, 967-3912.

Can't live with them, can't live without them. Let's face it...Bugs are an important part of the circle of life. Audience members will learn all the parts of various live (yes, live!) bugs; like cockroaches and compare them to non-insect creepy crawlies such as live scorpions, millipedes, spiders, and more. You'll see a side of bugs you've never seen before at the What's Buggin' You? Bug Show starring Safari Steve on Aug. 9 at 7 p.m.

The What's Buggin' You? Bug Show is a presentation of Carroll County on the Same Page. So what do bugs have to do with "Crow Lake" by Mary Lawson? Come to the Flora Library and find out! For more information on Carroll County on the Same Page visit Carroll County's public libraries in Camden, Delphi, and Flora.

Storytime is on summer hiatus so call the library's Dial-aStory, 967-3814, to hear a great tales!
