Irvin G. Britton, 73, of Flora died in his residence at 6 a.m. June 20, 2006.

Born in Camden, on June 5, 1933, he was the son of Walter E. and Pearl (Bowman) Britton, He married JoAnn L. Young on Sept. 25, 1952, in Camden, and she survives.

Mr. Britton was a carpenter for Chrysler Corporation for 24 years before taking a medical leave in 1990.

A master sergeant, he served in the National Guard for 12 1/2 years.

He was a member of Truth for Today Bible Fellowship in Lafayette.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Dave A. Britton (wife: Lesli) and a daughter, Lora Chapman, all of Flora; two sisters, Waneta Graham (husband: John) of Kokomo and Elaine McCain (husband: Bob) of Camden; three brothers, Carl E. Britton (wife: Rose Mary) of Panama City, Panama, Ralph W. Britton of Burrows, and Jerry E. Britton of Camden; and five grandchildren.

A daughter preceded him in death.

No services were held. Cremation took place.
